    How muddy is the Mississippi? In a water sample collected on the 11 Nov 2019 at the confluence of the Inner Harbour and Mississippi it was 150 mg/L. That's the dry mass (milligrams) of total suspended solids (TSS) per litre. Measured today at UCL Geography, UK. 500 ml of river water pumped through a pre-weighed 1 micron filter paper. Dried, then sediment and filter paper re-weighed.
